What should I know about coloured and woodgrain roller garage doors in Penzance?

Decide whether you want the guide rails and box in the same finish, especially if the box will be face-fitted outside.
Compare any colour against your house in daylight, as screens and printed charts rarely show a shade accurately.
Ask whether the colour you want is in the manufacturer's range, because colours outside it are priced separately on survey.
Check with your local planning authority before changing colour if your home is listed or in a conservation area.

Rules that apply in Penzance

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), sits in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Structural work

Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control before it starts.

Coloured and woodgrain roller garage doors in Penzance: questions

Do you charge more for Penzance than other towns in Cornwall?

No. Guide prices are the same for Penzance as for anywhere else we cover in Cornwall. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.

Do you cover Penzance?

Yes. Penzance is part of the area we cover in Cornwall, including TR18 and TR20. Get a guide price online, then we confirm a survey or visit date in writing. Dates depend on installer and engineer availability.

Is an electric roller door worth it for a garage in Penzance?

That depends on how often you use the garage. An electric door opens from the car with a remote and has safety devices fitted, while a manual door costs less and suits occasional use. We price both for your Penzance garage so you can compare.

How much do coloured and woodgrain roller garage doors cost in Penzance?

Our guide price for coloured and woodgrain roller garage doors is from £990 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Penzance as elsewhere we cover.

Will the guide rails and box match the door colour?

It's worth asking at the survey. On most fittings the box sits inside the garage, but the guide rails can be visible from outside, and a face-fitted box is fully on show. Finish options for the guides and box depend on the door model, so tell us what you'd like and the quote will state exactly what's included.

Can I have different colours on the inside and outside of the door?

That depends on what the manufacturer offers for the door you choose, because the finish options for the inside face of the curtain vary from one model to another. Tell us at the survey if the inside colour matters to you, for example on an integral garage you use as a utility space, and we'll confirm it in writing.
