What should I know about coloured and woodgrain roller garage doors in Kirkwall?

Look through the paperwork for your windows or front door, because the RAL code is the most reliable way to match the colour.
Think about the inside face of the door if the garage is integral or used as a room, since finishes can differ by side.
Check with your local planning authority before changing colour if your home is listed or in a conservation area.
Read your deeds for covenants about the front of the house, which some newer estates use to control colours.

How does it work in Kirkwall?

Once you accept the quote, the door is ordered in that finish and the fitting date is confirmed in writing. The date depends on installer availability.

Rules that apply in Kirkwall

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in Scotland. Listed building consent applies to listed buildings, and conservation-area controls, planning conditions or title conditions can restrict changes to how a garage looks, so check before ordering.

Structural work

Structural alterations, such as widening the opening or fitting a new lintel, need a building warrant from the local authority before work starts.

Coloured and woodgrain roller garage doors in Kirkwall: questions

Can I get a price for Kirkwall without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

How much do coloured and woodgrain roller garage doors cost in Kirkwall?

Our guide price for coloured and woodgrain roller garage doors is from £990 inc VAT. The door price depends on the opening size, the specification and any extras. Travel to Kirkwall is priced individually and shown in your written quote before you agree to anything.

How do surveys work in Kirkwall?

Surveys in Kirkwall are arranged individually because of travel. Any travel charge is confirmed in writing before the survey is booked, so you know the full cost before anyone comes out, and there is no obligation to go ahead with the quote.

Can I message you a photo of my garage in Kirkwall?

Yes. Photos of the opening, the inside of the garage above the door and any existing door help us give a more useful guide price for Kirkwall. Send them by WhatsApp or mention them in your enquiry, and we will reply in writing.

Can I have different colours on the inside and outside of the door?

That depends on what the manufacturer offers for the door you choose, because the finish options for the inside face of the curtain vary from one model to another. Tell us at the survey if the inside colour matters to you, for example on an integral garage you use as a utility space, and we'll confirm it in writing.

Will the guide rails and box match the door colour?

It's worth asking at the survey. On most fittings the box sits inside the garage, but the guide rails can be visible from outside, and a face-fitted box is fully on show. Finish options for the guides and box depend on the door model, so tell us what you'd like and the quote will state exactly what's included.
