What should I know about damaged lath repairs in Cumbria?

  • Photos of the damage and the lath ends help us confirm the visit price and the laths likely to be needed.
  • If many laths are damaged, we'll tell you plainly whether a new roller door would be better value.
  • New laths are matched to your curtain's height, profile and type, whether single-skin or insulated.
  • On electric doors, the safety devices are checked again after the curtain has been refitted.

Rules that apply in England

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Structural work

Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control before it starts.

Questions about damaged lath repairs in Cumbria

Which towns do you cover in Cumbria?

We cover Cumbria, including Carlisle, Barrow-in-Furness, Kendal and Whitehaven. Every town has its own page with local details, and you can start a guide price for any postcode in Cumbria online.

Are guide prices the same across Cumbria?

Yes. The guide prices are the same in every town in Cumbria. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode.

Can I get a price without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type, or the visit price for a repair. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

My car hit the garage door. Can I still use it?

If the curtain is out of its guides, running at an angle or catching as it moves, stop using it. Switch an electric door off at the isolator, keep people and cars clear of a part-open door, and don't force the curtain. Take photos and request a visit so the engineer can check the laths, guides and motor.

Why do the laths on my roller door slide sideways?

Laths can shift sideways within the curtain over time, which can make their ends catch on the guide rails and damage them further. Don't try to tap them back into place yourself, especially while the door is running. Request a visit, and the engineer will realign or replace the affected laths and check the guides.
