What should I know about damaged lath repairs on the Isle of Wight?
- Photos of the damage and the lath ends help us confirm the visit price and the laths likely to be needed.
- Guide rails and the bottom rail are checked for damage too, and any extra parts are quoted before fitting.
- If many laths are damaged, we'll tell you plainly whether a new roller door would be better value.
- Damaged laths are slid out of the curtain and replaced individually, without replacing the whole door.

Rules that apply in England
Powered door safety
Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.
Structural work
Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control before it starts.
Questions about damaged lath repairs on the Isle of Wight
How do I book a visit on the Isle of Wight?
Tell us what the door is doing using the form on this page, by phone or on WhatsApp. We confirm the visit price before anyone comes out, then confirm the date in writing. Travel to Newport, Ryde, Cowes and Sandown is priced individually and confirmed in writing before booking.
Which towns do you cover on the Isle of Wight?
We cover the Isle of Wight, including Newport, Ryde, Cowes and Sandown. Every town has its own page with local details, and you can start a guide price for any postcode on the Isle of Wight online.
Are guide prices the same across the Isle of Wight?
Yes for the door and visit prices. Travel to Newport, Ryde, Cowes and Sandown is priced individually and shown in writing before you agree to anything.
Do you replace laths on insulated roller doors?
Yes. We replace damaged laths on single-skin and insulated roller garage doors of any make, provided matching laths are available. Insulated laths are double-skinned aluminium filled with foam, and they come in different heights, so the new laths are matched to your curtain's size and profile.
My car hit the garage door. Can I still use it?
If the curtain is out of its guides, running at an angle or catching as it moves, stop using it. Switch an electric door off at the isolator, keep people and cars clear of a part-open door, and don't force the curtain. Take photos and request a visit so the engineer can check the laths, guides and motor.
