What should I know about double and wide roller garage doors in Banbridge?

Think about electric operation for any opening over 4 m, since the wide doubles in our price list are all electric.
Allow extra headroom for a wide door, since larger laths make a bigger roll and need a deeper box.
Look along the lintel for cracks or sagging, because a wide door's box is fixed along its full length.
Make sure there's a clear route from the road to the garage, because a curtain for a wide opening is long and awkward to carry.

Structural work

Structural alterations, such as widening the opening or fitting a new lintel, need building control approval from your council under the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 before work starts.

Double and wide roller garage doors in Banbridge: questions

Do I need permission for a new roller garage door in Banbridge?

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in Northern Ireland, and widening the opening needs building control approval from your council. If you live in a listed building, a conservation area or on an estate with covenants or planning conditions, check before ordering.

Is the survey in Banbridge really free?

Yes. For a new door, a replacement or a conversion, the survey is free and there is no obligation to go ahead. We measure the opening, check the lintel, headroom, side room and power, and send a written quote afterwards.

Do you cover Banbridge?

How much do double and wide roller garage doors cost in Banbridge?

Our guide price for double and wide roller garage doors is from £1,395 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Banbridge as elsewhere we cover.

Can I convert a double up-and-over door to a roller door?

Yes. We remove the old door and its frame, or keep the frame if it's sound, then check the lintel and reveals. The box is fitted behind the lintel and the guides to the reveals. Any extra work, such as a new lintel or building out the reveals, is priced on survey and listed separately in your written quote.

Do I need permission to turn two garage openings into one?

Removing a pier and fitting a longer lintel is structural work, and it may need Building Regulations approval. Whether planning permission is needed depends on your property, so check with your local authority, especially for listed buildings or homes in a conservation area. Our guide to planning and building regulations covers the questions to ask.
