What should I know about double and wide roller garage doors in Daventry?

Decide whether one wide door or two single doors suits how you use the garage, especially if there is a central pier.
Make sure there's a clear route from the road to the garage, because a curtain for a wide opening is long and awkward to carry.
Check whether the floor slopes or dips across the opening, as a wide bottom rail needs to sit evenly when closed.
Allow extra headroom for a wide door, since larger laths make a bigger roll and need a deeper box.

Rules that apply in Daventry

Structural work

Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control before it starts.

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), sits in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Double and wide roller garage doors in Daventry: questions

Do I need permission for a new roller garage door in Daventry?

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in England, and widening the opening needs building control approval. If you live in a listed building, a conservation area or on an estate with covenants or planning conditions, check before ordering.

Do you charge more for Daventry than other towns in Northamptonshire?

No. Guide prices are the same for Daventry as for anywhere else we cover in Northamptonshire. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.

Do you cover Daventry?

Yes. Daventry is part of the area we cover in Northamptonshire, including NN11. Get a guide price online, then we confirm a survey or visit date in writing. Dates depend on installer and engineer availability.

How much do double and wide roller garage doors cost in Daventry?

Our guide price for double and wide roller garage doors is from £1,395 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Daventry as elsewhere we cover.

Can I convert a double up-and-over door to a roller door?

Yes. We remove the old door and its frame, or keep the frame if it's sound, then check the lintel and reveals. The box is fitted behind the lintel and the guides to the reveals. Any extra work, such as a new lintel or building out the reveals, is priced on survey and listed separately in your written quote.

Is a manual roller door practical on a double garage?

It can be, but only up to 4 m in our price list, and you'll be lifting a long curtain by hand each time, even with spring assistance. For a garage opened every day, or anyone who would find that hard work, an electric door is usually the better choice. Wide doubles between 4 and 5.5 m in our price list are electric.
