What should I know about double and wide roller garage doors in Stourport-on-Severn?

Check whether the floor slopes or dips across the opening, as a wide bottom rail needs to sit evenly when closed.
Decide whether one wide door or two single doors suits how you use the garage, especially if there is a central pier.
Allow extra headroom for a wide door, since larger laths make a bigger roll and need a deeper box.
Look along the lintel for cracks or sagging, because a wide door's box is fixed along its full length.

Structural work

Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control before it starts.

Double and wide roller garage doors in Stourport-on-Severn: questions

How long does it take to fit a roller garage door in Stourport-on-Severn?

Most single domestic roller doors are fitted in a day once the door has been made, including removing the old door. Wider doors, conversions that need building work and jobs where power has to be run can take longer; the quote says what to expect.

Is the survey in Stourport-on-Severn really free?

Yes. For a new door, a replacement or a conversion, the survey is free and there is no obligation to go ahead. We measure the opening, check the lintel, headroom, side room and power, and send a written quote afterwards.

How much do double and wide roller garage doors cost in Stourport-on-Severn?

Our guide price for double and wide roller garage doors is from £1,395 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Stourport-on-Severn as elsewhere we cover.

Can I message you a photo of my garage in Stourport-on-Severn?

Yes. Photos of the opening, the inside of the garage above the door and any existing door help us give a more useful guide price for Stourport-on-Severn. Send them by WhatsApp or mention them in your enquiry, and we will reply in writing.

Can I convert a double up-and-over door to a roller door?

Yes. We remove the old door and its frame, or keep the frame if it's sound, then check the lintel and reveals. The box is fitted behind the lintel and the guides to the reveals. Any extra work, such as a new lintel or building out the reveals, is priced on survey and listed separately in your written quote.

Is a manual roller door practical on a double garage?

It can be, but only up to 4 m in our price list, and you'll be lifting a long curtain by hand each time, even with spring assistance. For a garage opened every day, or anyone who would find that hard work, an electric door is usually the better choice. Wide doubles between 4 and 5.5 m in our price list are electric.
