What should I know about made-to-measure roller garage doors in Lancashire?

Have your rough measurements to hand when you request a guide price, even though the door is built to the survey sizes.
Measure from the underside of the lintel to the ceiling or lowest obstruction, as that space decides the size and position of the box.
Read the sizes, fitting position and box position in your written quote carefully, because that's what the door will be made to.
Note any piers, downpipes or meter boxes outside the opening that could affect a face-fixed door or box.

Rules that apply in England

Structural work

Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control before it starts.

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), sits in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Questions about made-to-measure roller garage doors in Lancashire

Are guide prices the same across Lancashire?

Yes. The guide prices are the same in every town in Lancashire. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode.

Which towns do you cover in Lancashire?

We cover Lancashire, including Blackburn, Blackpool, Preston and Burnley. Every town has its own page with local details, and you can start a guide price for any postcode in Lancashire online.

How do I book a survey in Lancashire?

Start with the guide price tool or the form on this page. We then contact you to arrange a free survey for a new door, replacement or conversion, and confirm the date in writing.

Why might my measurements differ from the surveyor's?

Openings are rarely perfectly square, so width and height often vary by a few millimetres from one point to another. The surveyor measures at several points, checks the floor level and works to the figures the door must fit. Small differences from your own measurements are normal, and the written quote is based on the survey.

Can I choose the finish and extras on a made-to-measure door?

Yes. Alongside the sizes, you can choose the lath type, a RAL colour or woodgrain finish, vision or vent laths, and for electric doors extras such as a wireless keypad, smart app control or battery backup. Each choice is written into your quote with its price, so the door that's ordered matches exactly what you agreed.
