What should I know about remote control and keypad upgrades in Ayr?

  • Recoding after moving house means only the handsets you hold can open the door, whatever the previous owners kept.
  • A wireless keypad mounted beside the door lets you open the garage with a private code instead of a handset.
  • Handsets and keypads are priced individually, so your confirmation shows the visit and each item you have chosen.
  • A smart receiver is only fitted where the door has both a safety edge and photocells, re-tested at fitting.

How does it work in Ayr?

On the day, the receiver is recoded and new handsets or keypads are paired and tested. Any other parts the door needs are quoted before they're fitted.

Rules that apply in Ayr

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Part P does not apply in Scotland, but electrical work must meet BS 7671 and the Scottish building standards where it forms part of building work.

Remote control and keypad upgrades in Ayr: questions

Can I get a price for Ayr without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

Do you cover Ayr?

Yes. Ayr is part of the area we cover in Ayrshire, including KA8, KA7 and KA9. Get a guide price online, then we confirm a survey or visit date in writing. Dates depend on installer and engineer availability.

What should I do while I wait for a visit in Ayr?

If the door is stuck part-open, keep people, pets and cars clear of it and switch off the power at the isolator if it is safe to reach. Do not force the curtain or open the roller box. Your Ayr visit date is confirmed in writing.

Can I message you a photo of my garage in Ayr?

Yes. Photos of the opening, the inside of the garage above the door and any existing door help us give a more useful guide price for Ayr. Send them by WhatsApp or mention them in your enquiry, and we will reply in writing.

Can you add a remote to a manual roller door?

Not on its own. A manual door has no motor or receiver for a remote to talk to, because springs in the barrel balance the curtain and you lift it by hand. To operate it by remote, the door first needs a manual-to-electric conversion, which is only possible when the curtain, barrel, box and guides are sound and compatible.

Will recoding stop a lost fob from working?

Yes. Recoding clears the receiver's memory of paired handsets and then adds back only the ones you still have, plus any new ones. The lost or stolen fob is no longer recognised, so it can't open the door. It's sensible to do this after moving house as well, when you can't be sure how many handsets exist.
