What should I know about remote control and keypad upgrades in Derby?
- Rolling-code handsets are matched to your door's receiver, paired during the visit and tested before we leave.
- Handsets and keypads are priced individually, so your confirmation shows the visit and each item you have chosen.
- A smart receiver is only fitted where the door has both a safety edge and photocells, re-tested at fitting.
- Recoding after moving house means only the handsets you hold can open the door, whatever the previous owners kept.
How does it work in Derby?

Rules that apply in Derby
Powered door safety
Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.
Electrics
An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in England some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.
Remote control and keypad upgrades in Derby: questions
What should I do while I wait for a visit in Derby?
If the door is stuck part-open, keep people, pets and cars clear of it and switch off the power at the isolator if it is safe to reach. Do not force the curtain or open the roller box. Your Derby visit date is confirmed in writing.
Can I message you a photo of my garage in Derby?
Yes. Photos of the opening, the inside of the garage above the door and any existing door help us give a more useful guide price for Derby. Send them by WhatsApp or mention them in your enquiry, and we will reply in writing.
How much is a visit in Derby?
Prices for remote control and keypad upgrades start from £108 inc VAT, and the price is agreed before anyone comes out. Any parts not covered by that price are quoted before they are fitted, so you can decide on the spot. The guide prices are the same in Derby as elsewhere we cover.
Can I get a price for Derby without anyone visiting?
Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.
Will recoding stop a lost fob from working?
Yes. Recoding clears the receiver's memory of paired handsets and then adds back only the ones you still have, plus any new ones. The lost or stolen fob is no longer recognised, so it can't open the door. It's sensible to do this after moving house as well, when you can't be sure how many handsets exist.
Can you add a remote to a manual roller door?
Not on its own. A manual door has no motor or receiver for a remote to talk to, because springs in the barrel balance the curtain and you lift it by hand. To operate it by remote, the door first needs a manual-to-electric conversion, which is only possible when the curtain, barrel, box and guides are sound and compatible.
