What should I know about remote control and keypad upgrades in Dumfries and Galloway?

A smart receiver is only fitted where the door has both a safety edge and photocells, re-tested at fitting.
Rolling-code handsets are matched to your door's receiver, paired during the visit and tested before we leave.
Recoding after moving house means only the handsets you hold can open the door, whatever the previous owners kept.
Handsets and keypads are priced individually, so your confirmation shows the visit and each item you have chosen.

Rules that apply in Scotland

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Part P does not apply in Scotland, but electrical work must meet BS 7671 and the Scottish building standards where it forms part of building work.

Questions about remote control and keypad upgrades in Dumfries and Galloway

Can I get a price without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type, or the visit price for a repair. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

Are guide prices the same across Dumfries and Galloway?

Yes for the door and visit prices. Travel to Stranraer is priced individually and shown in writing before you agree to anything.

Which towns do you cover in Dumfries and Galloway?

We cover Dumfries and Galloway, including Dumfries, Stranraer, Annan and Lockerbie. Every town has its own page with local details, and you can start a guide price for any postcode in Dumfries and Galloway online.

Where is a wireless keypad fitted?

A wireless keypad is usually mounted on the wall outside, close to the garage door and at a comfortable height, so you can open the door without a handset. It communicates with the receiver without a cable to the control box. You choose the code, and you can change it later if you need to.

Does a smart receiver work with any electric roller door?

Not always. Some control boxes accept a smart receiver directly, while older or less common systems need a replacement receiver first. It also needs a dependable Wi-Fi signal at the garage. Tell us what control box you have and we'll confirm what's compatible, and the price, before the visit is booked.
