What should I know about remote control and keypad upgrades in Dyfed?

A wireless keypad mounted beside the door lets you open the garage with a private code instead of a handset.
Recoding clears the receiver's memory so a lost or stolen fob can no longer open your garage door.
Smart receivers let you open and close the door from a phone app where the garage has dependable Wi-Fi.
Recoding after moving house means only the handsets you hold can open the door, whatever the previous owners kept.

Rules that apply in Wales

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in Wales some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Questions about remote control and keypad upgrades in Dyfed

Can I get a price without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type, or the visit price for a repair. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

Which towns do you cover in Dyfed?

We cover Dyfed, including Llanelli, Ammanford, Aberystwyth and Carmarthen. Every town has its own page with local details, and you can start a guide price for any postcode in Dyfed online.

How do I book a visit in Dyfed?

Tell us what the door is doing using the form on this page, by phone or on WhatsApp. We confirm the visit price before anyone comes out, then confirm the date in writing. Travel to Aberystwyth is priced individually and confirmed in writing before booking.

Can you add a remote to a manual roller door?

Not on its own. A manual door has no motor or receiver for a remote to talk to, because springs in the barrel balance the curtain and you lift it by hand. To operate it by remote, the door first needs a manual-to-electric conversion, which is only possible when the curtain, barrel, box and guides are sound and compatible.

Does a smart receiver work with any electric roller door?

Not always. Some control boxes accept a smart receiver directly, while older or less common systems need a replacement receiver first. It also needs a dependable Wi-Fi signal at the garage. Tell us what control box you have and we'll confirm what's compatible, and the price, before the visit is booked.
