What should I know about remote control and keypad upgrades in Manchester?
- A wireless keypad mounted beside the door lets you open the garage with a private code instead of a handset.
- A smart receiver is only fitted where the door has both a safety edge and photocells, re-tested at fitting.
- Rolling-code handsets are matched to your door's receiver, paired during the visit and tested before we leave.
- Recoding after moving house means only the handsets you hold can open the door, whatever the previous owners kept.
How does it work in Manchester?
On the day, the receiver is recoded and new handsets or keypads are paired and tested. Any other parts the door needs are quoted before they're fitted.

Rules that apply in Manchester
Powered door safety
Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.
Electrics
An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in England some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.
Remote control and keypad upgrades in Manchester: questions
Will you fix the door on the first visit?
A fault can sometimes be found and put right on the first visit, but we never promise it. If a part needs ordering, we quote for it first, make the door safe where we can, and confirm the return date in writing.
Do you repair roller doors you did not fit in Manchester?
Yes. We repair roller garage doors of any make in Manchester and across M2, M1 and M4, where parts are available. If a part is no longer made, we tell you what will fit instead, or price a replacement door if that is the better option.
Do you charge more for Manchester than other towns in Greater Manchester?
No. Guide prices are the same for Manchester as for anywhere else we cover in Greater Manchester. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.
Can I message you a photo of my garage in Manchester?
Yes. Photos of the opening, the inside of the garage above the door and any existing door help us give a more useful guide price for Manchester. Send them by WhatsApp or mention them in your enquiry, and we will reply in writing.
Will recoding stop a lost fob from working?
Yes. Recoding clears the receiver's memory of paired handsets and then adds back only the ones you still have, plus any new ones. The lost or stolen fob is no longer recognised, so it can't open the door. It's sensible to do this after moving house as well, when you can't be sure how many handsets exist.
Can you add a remote to a manual roller door?
Not on its own. A manual door has no motor or receiver for a remote to talk to, because springs in the barrel balance the curtain and you lift it by hand. To operate it by remote, the door first needs a manual-to-electric conversion, which is only possible when the curtain, barrel, box and guides are sound and compatible.
