What should I know about remote control and keypad upgrades in Hemel Hempstead?
- A wireless keypad mounted beside the door lets you open the garage with a private code instead of a handset.
- Smart receivers let you open and close the door from a phone app where the garage has dependable Wi-Fi.
- Handsets and keypads are priced individually, so your confirmation shows the visit and each item you have chosen.
- Recoding after moving house means only the handsets you hold can open the door, whatever the previous owners kept.

Rules that apply in Hemel Hempstead
Powered door safety
Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.
Electrics
An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in England some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.
Remote control and keypad upgrades in Hemel Hempstead: questions
Do you cover Hemel Hempstead?
Yes. Hemel Hempstead is part of the area we cover in Hertfordshire, including HP2, HP3 and HP1. Get a guide price online, then we confirm a survey or visit date in writing. Dates depend on installer and engineer availability.
Do you charge more for Hemel Hempstead than other towns in Hertfordshire?
No. Guide prices are the same for Hemel Hempstead as for anywhere else we cover in Hertfordshire. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.
Can I message you a photo of my garage in Hemel Hempstead?
Yes. Photos of the opening, the inside of the garage above the door and any existing door help us give a more useful guide price for Hemel Hempstead. Send them by WhatsApp or mention them in your enquiry, and we will reply in writing.
Can I get a price for Hemel Hempstead without anyone visiting?
Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.
Can I buy a remote online and code it myself?
Sometimes, but only if the handset is compatible with your receiver, and many aren't. Rolling-code systems need the right handset type and the correct pairing steps from the motor maker. If you'd rather not risk buying the wrong one, tell us the make of your control box and we'll supply matched handsets and pair them during the visit.
Where is a wireless keypad fitted?
A wireless keypad is usually mounted on the wall outside, close to the garage door and at a comfortable height, so you can open the door without a handset. It communicates with the receiver without a cable to the control box. You choose the code, and you can change it later if you need to.
