What should I know about remote control and keypad upgrades in Welwyn Garden City?

Older receivers that no longer accept current handsets can be replaced, with the fitted price confirmed before booking.
Handsets and keypads are priced individually, so your confirmation shows the visit and each item you have chosen.
A smart receiver is only fitted where the door has both a safety edge and photocells, re-tested at fitting.
Recoding clears the receiver's memory so a lost or stolen fob can no longer open your garage door.

Rules that apply in Welwyn Garden City

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in England some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Remote control and keypad upgrades in Welwyn Garden City: questions

Will you fix the door on the first visit?

A fault can sometimes be found and put right on the first visit, but we never promise it. If a part needs ordering, we quote for it first, make the door safe where we can, and confirm the return date in writing.

Do you charge more for Welwyn Garden City than other towns in Hertfordshire?

No. Guide prices are the same for Welwyn Garden City as for anywhere else we cover in Hertfordshire. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.

Do you cover Welwyn Garden City?

Yes. Welwyn Garden City is part of the area we cover in Hertfordshire, including AL8, AL7 and AL6. Get a guide price online, then we confirm a survey or visit date in writing. Dates depend on installer and engineer availability.

Can I message you a photo of my garage in Welwyn Garden City?

Yes. Photos of the opening, the inside of the garage above the door and any existing door help us give a more useful guide price for Welwyn Garden City. Send them by WhatsApp or mention them in your enquiry, and we will reply in writing.

Does a smart receiver work with any electric roller door?

Not always. Some control boxes accept a smart receiver directly, while older or less common systems need a replacement receiver first. It also needs a dependable Wi-Fi signal at the garage. Tell us what control box you have and we'll confirm what's compatible, and the price, before the visit is booked.

Will recoding stop a lost fob from working?

Yes. Recoding clears the receiver's memory of paired handsets and then adds back only the ones you still have, plus any new ones. The lost or stolen fob is no longer recognised, so it can't open the door. It's sensible to do this after moving house as well, when you can't be sure how many handsets exist.
