What should I know about remote control and keypad upgrades in Rutland?
- A wireless keypad mounted beside the door lets you open the garage with a private code instead of a handset.
- A smart receiver is only fitted where the door has both a safety edge and photocells, re-tested at fitting.
- Handsets and keypads are priced individually, so your confirmation shows the visit and each item you have chosen.
- Recoding clears the receiver's memory so a lost or stolen fob can no longer open your garage door.

Rules that apply in England
Powered door safety
Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.
Electrics
An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in England some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.
Questions about remote control and keypad upgrades in Rutland
Which towns do you cover in Rutland?
We cover Rutland, including Oakham, Uppingham, Cottesmore and Ketton. Every town has its own page with local details, and you can start a guide price for any postcode in Rutland online.
Can I get a price without anyone visiting?
Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type, or the visit price for a repair. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.
Are guide prices the same across Rutland?
Yes. The guide prices are the same in every town in Rutland. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode.
Can I buy a remote online and code it myself?
Sometimes, but only if the handset is compatible with your receiver, and many aren't. Rolling-code systems need the right handset type and the correct pairing steps from the motor maker. If you'd rather not risk buying the wrong one, tell us the make of your control box and we'll supply matched handsets and pair them during the visit.
Will recoding stop a lost fob from working?
Yes. Recoding clears the receiver's memory of paired handsets and then adds back only the ones you still have, plus any new ones. The lost or stolen fob is no longer recognised, so it can't open the door. It's sensible to do this after moving house as well, when you can't be sure how many handsets exist.
