What should I know about remote control and keypad upgrades in Cardiff?

A wireless keypad mounted beside the door lets you open the garage with a private code instead of a handset.
Handsets and keypads are priced individually, so your confirmation shows the visit and each item you have chosen.
Older receivers that no longer accept current handsets can be replaced, with the fitted price confirmed before booking.
A smart receiver is only fitted where the door has both a safety edge and photocells, re-tested at fitting.

How does it work in Cardiff?

We confirm the visit price and the cost of the handsets, keypad or receiver you've chosen. The visit is then booked, with the date confirmed in writing once an engineer is available.

Rules that apply in Cardiff

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in Wales some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Remote control and keypad upgrades in Cardiff: questions

Do you charge more for Cardiff than other towns in South Glamorgan?

No. Guide prices are the same for Cardiff as for anywhere else we cover in South Glamorgan. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.

Do you repair roller doors you did not fit in Cardiff?

Yes. We repair roller garage doors of any make in Cardiff and across CF10, CF11 and CF24, where parts are available. If a part is no longer made, we tell you what will fit instead, or price a replacement door if that is the better option.

Will you fix the door on the first visit?

A fault can sometimes be found and put right on the first visit, but we never promise it. If a part needs ordering, we quote for it first, make the door safe where we can, and confirm the return date in writing.

How much is a visit in Cardiff?

Prices for remote control and keypad upgrades start from £108 inc VAT, and the price is agreed before anyone comes out. Any parts not covered by that price are quoted before they are fitted, so you can decide on the spot. The guide prices are the same in Cardiff as elsewhere we cover.

Does a smart receiver work with any electric roller door?

Not always. Some control boxes accept a smart receiver directly, while older or less common systems need a replacement receiver first. It also needs a dependable Wi-Fi signal at the garage. Tell us what control box you have and we'll confirm what's compatible, and the price, before the visit is booked.

Where is a wireless keypad fitted?

A wireless keypad is usually mounted on the wall outside, close to the garage door and at a comfortable height, so you can open the door without a handset. It communicates with the receiver without a cable to the control box. You choose the code, and you can change it later if you need to.
