What should I know about roller garage doors with vision and vent laths in Cornwall?

Plan vision or vent laths into your order from the start, because they're built into the curtain when the door is made.
Weigh up insulation if you're choosing insulated laths, as vent laths let air through and vision laths hold less heat.
Think about privacy, because vision laths can let people glimpse what's inside when the garage light is on after dark.
Decide whether the garage needs daylight, airflow or both, since vision and vent laths do different jobs.

Rules that apply in England

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), sits in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Questions about roller garage doors with vision and vent laths in Cornwall

How do I book a survey in Cornwall?

Start with the guide price tool or the form on this page. We then contact you to arrange a free survey for a new door, replacement or conversion, and confirm the date in writing.

Are guide prices the same across Cornwall?

Yes. The guide prices are the same in every town in Cornwall. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode.

Can I get a price without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type, or the visit price for a repair. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

Will people be able to see into my garage through vision laths?

Possibly, especially at night when the garage light is on. If privacy matters, think about the height of the laths and what's stored nearby. Placing them higher in the curtain, or having fewer of them, can help. We'll talk through the position at survey so you can balance daylight against privacy for your garage.

Do vent laths let rain or insects into the garage?

Vent laths have openings by design, so some air movement comes with them, and in very wet, windy weather a little moisture may get in. If you store things that must stay completely dry, keep them away from the door. Think about where the vent laths sit in the curtain, and discuss it at the survey before you decide.
