What should I know about roller garage doors with vision and vent laths in Herefordshire?

Think about privacy, because vision laths can let people glimpse what's inside when the garage light is on after dark.
Keep anything that must stay completely dry away from vent laths, as some moisture may get in during wet, windy weather.
Plan vision or vent laths into your order from the start, because they're built into the curtain when the door is made.
Ask whether vision or vent laths are covered by the certificate if you're choosing a security-rated door model.

Rules that apply in England

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), sits in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Questions about roller garage doors with vision and vent laths in Herefordshire

Do I need permission for a new roller garage door in Herefordshire?

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in England, and widening the opening needs building control approval. If you live in a listed building, a conservation area or on an estate with covenants or planning conditions, check before ordering.

Are guide prices the same across Herefordshire?

Yes. The guide prices are the same in every town in Herefordshire. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode.

Which towns do you cover in Herefordshire?

We cover Herefordshire, including Hereford, Leominster, Ross-on-Wye and Ledbury. Every town has its own page with local details, and you can start a guide price for any postcode in Herefordshire online.

Can vision laths be added to my existing roller door?

Vision and vent laths are built into the curtain when a new door is made, which is why we offer them as an extra on new doors. Changing laths in an existing curtain depends on finding compatible laths for that door, so if you want daylight or ventilation in your current garage, it's usually simplest to plan them into a replacement door.

Will people be able to see into my garage through vision laths?

Possibly, especially at night when the garage light is on. If privacy matters, think about the height of the laths and what's stored nearby. Placing them higher in the curtain, or having fewer of them, can help. We'll talk through the position at survey so you can balance daylight against privacy for your garage.
