What should I know about roller garage doors with vision and vent laths in Burnham-on-Sea?

Keep anything that must stay completely dry away from vent laths, as some moisture may get in during wet, windy weather.
Check the agreed position of the laths in your written quote, and again on fitting day before the installer finishes.
Decide whether the garage needs daylight, airflow or both, since vision and vent laths do different jobs.
Ask whether vision or vent laths are covered by the certificate if you're choosing a security-rated door model.

How does it work in Burnham-on-Sea?

When you're happy with the quote and accept it, we put the fitting date in writing, based on when an installer is available. The door, including its special laths, is only ordered after that acceptance.

Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), sits in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Roller garage doors with vision and vent laths in Burnham-on-Sea: questions

Do I need permission for a new roller garage door in Burnham-on-Sea?

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in England, and widening the opening needs building control approval. If you live in a listed building, a conservation area or on an estate with covenants or planning conditions, check before ordering.

Can I get a price for Burnham-on-Sea without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

How long does it take to fit a roller garage door in Burnham-on-Sea?

Most single domestic roller doors are fitted in a day once the door has been made, including removing the old door. Wider doors, conversions that need building work and jobs where power has to be run can take longer; the quote says what to expect.

How much do roller garage doors with vision and vent laths cost in Burnham-on-Sea?

Our guide price for roller garage doors with vision and vent laths is from £1,040 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Burnham-on-Sea as elsewhere we cover.

Can I have vision laths on an electric roller door?

Yes. Vision and vent laths are part of the curtain, so they coil onto the barrel and run in the guides like the rest of the laths, whether the door is manual or electric. An electric door with vision laths is commissioned in the usual way, with the limits set and the safety edge or photocells tested.

Will people be able to see into my garage through vision laths?

Possibly, especially at night when the garage light is on. If privacy matters, think about the height of the laths and what's stored nearby. Placing them higher in the curtain, or having fewer of them, can help. We'll talk through the position at survey so you can balance daylight against privacy for your garage.
