What should I know about roller garage doors with vision and vent laths in West Glamorgan?

Decide whether the garage needs daylight, airflow or both, since vision and vent laths do different jobs.
Consider the height you want the laths at, for example level with a workbench or higher up to keep the view in limited.
Check the agreed position of the laths in your written quote, and again on fitting day before the installer finishes.
Keep anything that must stay completely dry away from vent laths, as some moisture may get in during wet, windy weather.

Rules that apply in Wales

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in Wales. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), is in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Questions about roller garage doors with vision and vent laths in West Glamorgan

Which towns do you cover in West Glamorgan?

We cover West Glamorgan, including Swansea, Neath, Port Talbot and Gorseinon. Every town has its own page with local details, and you can start a guide price for any postcode in West Glamorgan online.

How do I book a survey in West Glamorgan?

Start with the guide price tool or the form on this page. We then contact you to arrange a free survey for a new door, replacement or conversion, and confirm the date in writing.

Can I get a price without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type, or the visit price for a repair. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

Can I have vision laths on an electric roller door?

Yes. Vision and vent laths are part of the curtain, so they coil onto the barrel and run in the guides like the rest of the laths, whether the door is manual or electric. An electric door with vision laths is commissioned in the usual way, with the limits set and the safety edge or photocells tested.

Do vent laths let rain or insects into the garage?

Vent laths have openings by design, so some air movement comes with them, and in very wet, windy weather a little moisture may get in. If you store things that must stay completely dry, keep them away from the door. Think about where the vent laths sit in the curtain, and discuss it at the survey before you decide.
