What should I know about battery backup and safety upgrades in County Armagh?

A battery backup unit lets the door run for a limited number of cycles when the mains power is off.
We check your motor and control box are compatible with the upgrade before the visit is booked, not on the day.
After fitting, the door is tested to check it stops and reverses as it should with the new devices.
A pressure-sensitive safety edge on the bottom rail stops or reverses the door if it touches something while closing.

Rules that apply in Northern Ireland

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and CE marking, which is the marking that applies to machinery placed on the market in Northern Ireland.

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Part P does not apply in Northern Ireland, but electrical work must still meet BS 7671 and be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Which towns do you cover in County Armagh?

We cover County Armagh, including Portadown, Lurgan, Craigavon and Armagh. Every town has its own page with local details, and you can start a guide price for any postcode in County Armagh online.

How many times will a battery backup open the door?

It depends on the unit, the motor and the size and weight of the door. A battery backup is designed for a limited number of cycles in a power cut, not for running the door for days. If you need the door after the battery runs down, use the manual override as the manufacturer's instructions describe.

Do I still need the manual override if I have a battery backup?

Yes. A battery unit covers a limited number of cycles, and it can run down during a long power cut or as the battery ages. Keep the override handle somewhere you can find it in the dark, and make sure everyone who uses the garage knows where it is and how it works.
