Rules that apply in Wales

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in Wales some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Questions about battery backup and safety upgrades in Powys

How do I book a visit in Powys?

Tell us what the door is doing using the form on this page, by phone or on WhatsApp. We confirm the visit price before anyone comes out, then confirm the date in writing. Travel to Llandrindod Wells is priced individually and confirmed in writing before booking.

Can I get a price without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type, or the visit price for a repair. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

Are guide prices the same across Powys?

Yes for the door and visit prices. Travel to Llandrindod Wells is priced individually and shown in writing before you agree to anything.

How many times will a battery backup open the door?

It depends on the unit, the motor and the size and weight of the door. A battery backup is designed for a limited number of cycles in a power cut, not for running the door for days. If you need the door after the battery runs down, use the manual override as the manufacturer's instructions describe.

Do I still need the manual override if I have a battery backup?

Yes. A battery unit covers a limited number of cycles, and it can run down during a long power cut or as the battery ages. Keep the override handle somewhere you can find it in the dark, and make sure everyone who uses the garage knows where it is and how it works.
