What should I know about double and wide roller garage doors in Carmarthen?

Think about electric operation for any opening over 4 m, since the wide doubles in our price list are all electric.
Make sure there's a clear route from the road to the garage, because a curtain for a wide opening is long and awkward to carry.
Ask whether pier removal needs building regulations approval before planning to turn two openings into one.
Look along the lintel for cracks or sagging, because a wide door's box is fixed along its full length.

Rules that apply in Carmarthen

Structural work

Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control in Wales before it starts.

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in Wales. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), is in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Double and wide roller garage doors in Carmarthen: questions

Is the survey in Carmarthen really free?

Yes. For a new door, a replacement or a conversion, the survey is free and there is no obligation to go ahead. We measure the opening, check the lintel, headroom, side room and power, and send a written quote afterwards.

Is an electric roller door worth it for a garage in Carmarthen?

That depends on how often you use the garage. An electric door opens from the car with a remote and has safety devices fitted, while a manual door costs less and suits occasional use. We price both for your Carmarthen garage so you can compare.

Do you cover Carmarthen?

Yes. Carmarthen is part of the area we cover in Dyfed, including SA31. Get a guide price online, then we confirm a survey or visit date in writing. Dates depend on installer and engineer availability.

How much do double and wide roller garage doors cost in Carmarthen?

Our guide price for double and wide roller garage doors is from £1,395 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Carmarthen as elsewhere we cover.

What if my garage opening is wider than 5.5 m?

We price it on survey. Openings over 5.5 m fall outside our standard price bands, because the door, the lintel and the fixing points need to be checked and specified individually. You can still use the online tool to tell us about the opening, and we'll arrange a free survey and give you a written quote.

Can I convert a double up-and-over door to a roller door?

Yes. We remove the old door and its frame, or keep the frame if it's sound, then check the lintel and reveals. The box is fitted behind the lintel and the guides to the reveals. Any extra work, such as a new lintel or building out the reveals, is priced on survey and listed separately in your written quote.
