What should I know about made-to-measure roller garage doors in Carmarthen?

Check the clear wall either side of the opening, since the guide rails typically need around 75 to 100 mm each side.
Have your rough measurements to hand when you request a guide price, even though the door is built to the survey sizes.
Read the sizes, fitting position and box position in your written quote carefully, because that's what the door will be made to.
Look for pipes, cables or lights near the top of the opening inside, because they may need moving to make room for the box.

Rules that apply in Carmarthen

Structural work

Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control in Wales before it starts.

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in Wales. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), is in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Made-to-measure roller garage doors in Carmarthen: questions

How much do made-to-measure roller garage doors cost in Carmarthen?

Our guide price for made-to-measure roller garage doors is from £1,495 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Carmarthen as elsewhere we cover.

Can I get a price for Carmarthen without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

How long does it take to fit a roller garage door in Carmarthen?

Most single domestic roller doors are fitted in a day once the door has been made, including removing the old door. Wider doors, conversions that need building work and jobs where power has to be run can take longer; the quote says what to expect.

Is an electric roller door worth it for a garage in Carmarthen?

That depends on how often you use the garage. An electric door opens from the car with a remote and has safety devices fitted, while a manual door costs less and suits occasional use. We price both for your Carmarthen garage so you can compare.

Why might my measurements differ from the surveyor's?

Openings are rarely perfectly square, so width and height often vary by a few millimetres from one point to another. The surveyor measures at several points, checks the floor level and works to the figures the door must fit. Small differences from your own measurements are normal, and the written quote is based on the survey.

What if my opening is narrower than a typical garage door?

Narrow openings are fine, because the door is built to your width. Side room is the main thing to check, since each guide rail needs some clear wall beside the opening. If the opening is narrow and you'd like as much clear width as possible, we'll explain how each fitting position affects the space you'll have for the car.
