What should I know about double and wide roller garage doors in Milford Haven?

Think about electric operation for any opening over 4 m, since the wide doubles in our price list are all electric.
Ask whether pier removal needs building regulations approval before planning to turn two openings into one.
Check whether the floor slopes or dips across the opening, as a wide bottom rail needs to sit evenly when closed.
Make sure there's a clear route from the road to the garage, because a curtain for a wide opening is long and awkward to carry.

Rules that apply in Milford Haven

Structural work

Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control in Wales before it starts.

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in Wales. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), is in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Double and wide roller garage doors in Milford Haven: questions

Do you charge more for Milford Haven than other towns in Dyfed?

No. Guide prices are the same for Milford Haven as for anywhere else we cover in Dyfed. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.

Can I message you a photo of my garage in Milford Haven?

Yes. Photos of the opening, the inside of the garage above the door and any existing door help us give a more useful guide price for Milford Haven. Send them by WhatsApp or mention them in your enquiry, and we will reply in writing.

Is a manual roller door practical on a double garage?

It can be, but only up to 4 m in our price list, and you'll be lifting a long curtain by hand each time, even with spring assistance. For a garage opened every day, or anyone who would find that hard work, an electric door is usually the better choice. Wide doubles between 4 and 5.5 m in our price list are electric.

What if my garage opening is wider than 5.5 m?

We price it on survey. Openings over 5.5 m fall outside our standard price bands, because the door, the lintel and the fixing points need to be checked and specified individually. You can still use the online tool to tell us about the opening, and we'll arrange a free survey and give you a written quote.
