What should I know about double and wide roller garage doors in Billericay?

Decide whether one wide door or two single doors suits how you use the garage, especially if there is a central pier.
Make sure there's a clear route from the road to the garage, because a curtain for a wide opening is long and awkward to carry.
Look along the lintel for cracks or sagging, because a wide door's box is fixed along its full length.
Ask whether pier removal needs building regulations approval before planning to turn two openings into one.

Rules that apply in Billericay

Structural work

Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control before it starts.

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), sits in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Double and wide roller garage doors in Billericay: questions

Can I message you a photo of my garage in Billericay?

Yes. Photos of the opening, the inside of the garage above the door and any existing door help us give a more useful guide price for Billericay. Send them by WhatsApp or mention them in your enquiry, and we will reply in writing.

Can I get a price for Billericay without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

Do you charge more for Billericay than other towns in Essex?

No. Guide prices are the same for Billericay as for anywhere else we cover in Essex. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.

How much do double and wide roller garage doors cost in Billericay?

Our guide price for double and wide roller garage doors is from £1,395 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Billericay as elsewhere we cover.

Can I convert a double up-and-over door to a roller door?

Yes. We remove the old door and its frame, or keep the frame if it's sound, then check the lintel and reveals. The box is fitted behind the lintel and the guides to the reveals. Any extra work, such as a new lintel or building out the reveals, is priced on survey and listed separately in your written quote.

Do I need permission to turn two garage openings into one?

Removing a pier and fitting a longer lintel is structural work, and it may need Building Regulations approval. Whether planning permission is needed depends on your property, so check with your local authority, especially for listed buildings or homes in a conservation area. Our guide to planning and building regulations covers the questions to ask.
