What should I know about double and wide roller garage doors in Bloxwich?

Check whether the floor slopes or dips across the opening, as a wide bottom rail needs to sit evenly when closed.
Measure the width of your opening at the top, middle and bottom, and use the narrowest figure for your guide price.
Make sure there's a clear route from the road to the garage, because a curtain for a wide opening is long and awkward to carry.
Think about electric operation for any opening over 4 m, since the wide doubles in our price list are all electric.

Structural work

Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control before it starts.

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), sits in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Double and wide roller garage doors in Bloxwich: questions

How long does it take to fit a roller garage door in Bloxwich?

Most single domestic roller doors are fitted in a day once the door has been made, including removing the old door. Wider doors, conversions that need building work and jobs where power has to be run can take longer; the quote says what to expect.

Can you remove my old garage door in Bloxwich?

Yes. Every door price includes removing and disposing of an old roller or up-and-over door at your Bloxwich address, along with standard fixings and making good to the reveals. If the frame or lintel needs work, we price it at the survey before you agree.

Is the survey in Bloxwich really free?

Yes. For a new door, a replacement or a conversion, the survey is free and there is no obligation to go ahead. We measure the opening, check the lintel, headroom, side room and power, and send a written quote afterwards.

How much do double and wide roller garage doors cost in Bloxwich?

Our guide price for double and wide roller garage doors is from £1,395 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Bloxwich as elsewhere we cover.

Is a manual roller door practical on a double garage?

It can be, but only up to 4 m in our price list, and you'll be lifting a long curtain by hand each time, even with spring assistance. For a garage opened every day, or anyone who would find that hard work, an electric door is usually the better choice. Wide doubles between 4 and 5.5 m in our price list are electric.

Do I need permission to turn two garage openings into one?

Removing a pier and fitting a longer lintel is structural work, and it may need Building Regulations approval. Whether planning permission is needed depends on your property, so check with your local authority, especially for listed buildings or homes in a conservation area. Our guide to planning and building regulations covers the questions to ask.
