What should I know about electric roller garage doors in Shropshire?

Check where the override handle would be kept, because you'll need it to open the door by hand during a power cut.
Consider whether children, pets or bikes are often near the opening, and plan to test the safety edge or photocells every month.
Find out whether there is a socket or fused spur near the top of the opening, since the motor's control box needs a power supply close by.
Work out how many remote fobs the drivers in your household need, so the right number of extra handsets can be listed in the quote.

Rules that apply in England

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in England some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Questions about electric roller garage doors in Shropshire

How do I book a survey in Shropshire?

Start with the guide price tool or the form on this page. We then contact you to arrange a free survey for a new door, replacement or conversion, and confirm the date in writing.

Which towns do you cover in Shropshire?

We cover Shropshire, including Telford, Shrewsbury, Wellington and Oswestry. Every town has its own page with local details, and you can start a guide price for any postcode in Shropshire online.

Are guide prices the same across Shropshire?

Yes. The guide prices are the same in every town in Shropshire. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode.

Why does my electric door start closing and then go back up?

That usually means a safety device thinks something is in the way. Check nothing is in the opening, wipe the photocell lenses and look for damage to the rubber safety edge on the bottom rail. If it keeps happening, stop using the door and ask for a repair visit, which is priced and agreed before anyone comes out.

Can I add more remotes or a keypad later?

Yes. When you order a new door, you can add extra handsets and a wireless keypad at the prices in your quote. On an existing door, adding or recoding remotes, or changing the receiver, is done on a visit whose price is agreed before we come out. Keep a note of how many handsets you have, so any lost ones can be dealt with.
