What should I know about made-to-measure roller garage doors in Shepherd's Bush?

Check the clear wall either side of the opening, since the guide rails typically need around 75 to 100 mm each side.
Have your rough measurements to hand when you request a guide price, even though the door is built to the survey sizes.
Read the sizes, fitting position and box position in your written quote carefully, because that's what the door will be made to.
Measure from the underside of the lintel to the ceiling or lowest obstruction, as that space decides the size and position of the box.

Rules that apply in Shepherd's Bush

Structural work

Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control before it starts.

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), sits in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Made-to-measure roller garage doors in Shepherd's Bush: questions

Do I need permission for a new roller garage door in Shepherd's Bush?

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in England, and widening the opening needs building control approval. If you live in a listed building, a conservation area or on an estate with covenants or planning conditions, check before ordering.

Can I get a price for Shepherd's Bush without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

Do you charge more for Shepherd's Bush than other towns in Greater London?

No. Guide prices are the same for Shepherd's Bush as for anywhere else we cover in Greater London. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.

How much do made-to-measure roller garage doors cost in Shepherd's Bush?

Our guide price for made-to-measure roller garage doors is from £1,495 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Shepherd's Bush as elsewhere we cover.

Why might my measurements differ from the surveyor's?

Openings are rarely perfectly square, so width and height often vary by a few millimetres from one point to another. The surveyor measures at several points, checks the floor level and works to the figures the door must fit. Small differences from your own measurements are normal, and the written quote is based on the survey.

What if my opening is narrower than a typical garage door?

Narrow openings are fine, because the door is built to your width. Side room is the main thing to check, since each guide rail needs some clear wall beside the opening. If the opening is narrow and you'd like as much clear width as possible, we'll explain how each fitting position affects the space you'll have for the car.
