What should I know about security-rated roller garage doors in Shepherd's Bush?
- Ask to see the certificate for the exact door model in your quote, and check that the model name and rating match.
- Look at the lintel and the brickwork around the opening, as a rated door relies on sound masonry for its fixings.
- Decide where the manual override will be kept inside the garage, so it's easy for you to find but not obvious to anyone else.
- Count the remote fobs your household needs and plan where they'll live, as a lost fob should be recoded out of the system.

Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), sits in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.
Security-rated roller garage doors in Shepherd's Bush: questions
Can I get a price for Shepherd's Bush without anyone visiting?
Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.
What do you check at a survey in W12?
At a survey in W12 we measure the width and height of the opening, the headroom above it for the roller box, the side room for the guide rails and the floor level. We also look at the lintel and where power can come from for an electric door.
How much do security-rated roller garage doors cost in Shepherd's Bush?
Our guide price for security-rated roller garage doors is from £2,295 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Shepherd's Bush as elsewhere we cover.
Do you charge more for Shepherd's Bush than other towns in Greater London?
No. Guide prices are the same for Shepherd's Bush as for anywhere else we cover in Greater London. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.
Does a security-rated roller door have a manual override?
Like most electric roller doors, it normally has a manual override for power cuts, usually an internal crank or winding handle. Where the garage has no other way in, an external override may be possible, though it's worth thinking about where it sits. Battery backup is another option, running the door for a limited number of cycles while the power is off.
Can my existing roller door be upgraded to a security rating?
No. A rating applies to a complete door model as the manufacturer had it tested, so adding locks or parts to an existing door doesn't make it rated. If you want a certificated door, it has to be a new door of a rated model. Some changes still help, such as recoding lost remotes on a visit that is priced and agreed before we come out.
