What should I know about made-to-measure roller garage doors in Gorseinon?

Measure from the underside of the lintel to the ceiling or lowest obstruction, as that space decides the size and position of the box.
Read the sizes, fitting position and box position in your written quote carefully, because that's what the door will be made to.
Check the clear wall either side of the opening, since the guide rails typically need around 75 to 100 mm each side.
Have your rough measurements to hand when you request a guide price, even though the door is built to the survey sizes.

Structural work

Widening the opening, removing a central pier or fitting a new lintel is structural work that needs Building Regulations approval from building control in Wales before it starts.

Planning

Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), is in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Made-to-measure roller garage doors in Gorseinon: questions

How long does it take to fit a roller garage door in Gorseinon?

Most single domestic roller doors are fitted in a day once the door has been made, including removing the old door. Wider doors, conversions that need building work and jobs where power has to be run can take longer; the quote says what to expect.

How much do made-to-measure roller garage doors cost in Gorseinon?

Our guide price for made-to-measure roller garage doors is from £1,495 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Gorseinon as elsewhere we cover.

Is an electric roller door worth it for a garage in Gorseinon?

That depends on how often you use the garage. An electric door opens from the car with a remote and has safety devices fitted, while a manual door costs less and suits occasional use. We price both for your Gorseinon garage so you can compare.

Do I need permission for a new roller garage door in Gorseinon?

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in Wales, and widening the opening needs building control approval. If you live in a listed building, a conservation area or on an estate with covenants or planning conditions, check before ordering.

Why might my measurements differ from the surveyor's?

Openings are rarely perfectly square, so width and height often vary by a few millimetres from one point to another. The surveyor measures at several points, checks the floor level and works to the figures the door must fit. Small differences from your own measurements are normal, and the written quote is based on the survey.

Can I order a made-to-measure door without a survey?

We don't order doors from customer measurements alone. The door is built to sizes taken at our free survey, where we also check the lintel, headroom, floor and power. That way, if the door doesn't fit, getting the sizes right is our job, not yours. Your own measurements are still useful for the online guide price before the survey.
