Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in England some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Not on its own. A manual door has no motor or receiver for a remote to talk to, because springs in the barrel balance the curtain and you lift it by hand. To operate it by remote, the door first needs a manual-to-electric conversion, which is only possible when the curtain, barrel, box and guides are sound and compatible.

Does a smart receiver work with any electric roller door?

Not always. Some control boxes accept a smart receiver directly, while older or less common systems need a replacement receiver first. It also needs a dependable Wi-Fi signal at the garage. Tell us what control box you have and we'll confirm what's compatible, and the price, before the visit is booked.
