What should I know about smart roller garage doors in Workington?

Find out whether there is a socket or fused spur near the box, as a smart receiver needs an electric door with power.
Decide who in the household should have app access, and plan how you will remove access when someone no longer needs it.
Think about whether a Wi-Fi extender or mesh point may be needed if the garage is detached or behind thick walls.
Ask which features the smart receiver offers, such as showing whether the door is open, before you order it.

Rules that apply in Workington

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in England some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Smart roller garage doors in Workington: questions

How much do smart roller garage doors cost in Workington?

Our guide price for smart roller garage doors is from £1,290 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Workington as elsewhere we cover.

Do you charge more for Workington than other towns in Cumbria?

No. Guide prices are the same for Workington as for anywhere else we cover in Cumbria. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.

Do you cover Workington?

Yes. Workington is part of the area we cover in Cumbria, including CA14. Get a guide price online, then we confirm a survey or visit date in writing. Dates depend on installer and engineer availability.

Can I get a price for Workington without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

What happens to a smart garage door if the Wi-Fi goes down?

The app may stop responding until the Wi-Fi or internet connection comes back, but the door itself keeps working. Your remote fobs talk to the door directly, and any keypad or key switch works as normal. The door doesn't rely on the internet to open and close, only to take instructions from the app.

Does a smart garage door work with voice assistants?

Some smart receivers can link to voice assistants or home automation systems, but it varies from one receiver to another. If that matters to you, tell us at the survey and we'll confirm what the receiver for your door supports before you order. Think carefully before allowing voice commands to open the door, for security.
