What should I know about smart roller garage doors in South Croydon?

Decide who in the household should have app access, and plan how you will remove access when someone no longer needs it.
Only close the door from the app when you know the opening is clear, and keep testing the safety devices monthly.
Keep your remote fobs as well as the app, because they operate the door directly even when the internet is down.
Find out whether there is a socket or fused spur near the box, as a smart receiver needs an electric door with power.

Rules that apply in South Croydon

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in England some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Smart roller garage doors in South Croydon: questions

Do you cover South Croydon?

Yes. South Croydon is part of the area we cover in Greater London, including CR2, CR0 and CR8. Get a guide price online, then we confirm a survey or visit date in writing. Dates depend on installer and engineer availability.

What do you check at a survey in CR2?

At a survey in CR2 we measure the width and height of the opening, the headroom above it for the roller box, the side room for the guide rails and the floor level. We also look at the lintel and where power can come from for an electric door.

Can I message you a photo of my garage in South Croydon?

Yes. Photos of the opening, the inside of the garage above the door and any existing door help us give a more useful guide price for South Croydon. Send them by WhatsApp or mention them in your enquiry, and we will reply in writing.

How much do smart roller garage doors cost in South Croydon?

Our guide price for smart roller garage doors is from £1,290 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in South Croydon as elsewhere we cover.

Does a smart garage door work with voice assistants?

Some smart receivers can link to voice assistants or home automation systems, but it varies from one receiver to another. If that matters to you, tell us at the survey and we'll confirm what the receiver for your door supports before you order. Think carefully before allowing voice commands to open the door, for security.

Can several people control the door from their phones?

Usually, yes, though how access is shared depends on the app and receiver your door uses. It's worth keeping a list of who has access, and removing anyone who no longer needs it, in the same way you'd keep track of keys and fobs. Ask about sharing at the survey if it matters to you.
