What should I know about smart roller garage doors in Wigan?

Only close the door from the app when you know the opening is clear, and keep testing the safety devices monthly.
Keep your remote fobs as well as the app, because they operate the door directly even when the internet is down.
Consider battery backup alongside smart control, so the door still works for a limited number of cycles in a power cut.
Find out whether there is a socket or fused spur near the box, as a smart receiver needs an electric door with power.

How does it work in Wigan?

When you accept the quote, the fitting date is confirmed in writing, depending on installer availability. On the day, the door is commissioned and the app is set up with you.

Rules that apply in Wigan

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in England some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Smart roller garage doors in Wigan: questions

Can you remove my old garage door in Wigan?

Yes. Every door price includes removing and disposing of an old roller or up-and-over door at your Wigan address, along with standard fixings and making good to the reveals. If the frame or lintel needs work, we price it at the survey before you agree.

Do you cover Wigan?

Yes. Wigan is part of the area we cover in Greater Manchester, including WN1, WN3 and WN5. Get a guide price online, then we confirm a survey or visit date in writing. Dates depend on installer and engineer availability.

How much do smart roller garage doors cost in Wigan?

Our guide price for smart roller garage doors is from £1,290 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Wigan as elsewhere we cover.

Is an electric roller door worth it for a garage in Wigan?

That depends on how often you use the garage. An electric door opens from the car with a remote and has safety devices fitted, while a manual door costs less and suits occasional use. We price both for your Wigan garage so you can compare.

Do I still get remote fobs with a smart door?

Yes. A smart door comes with rolling-code remote fobs as well as app control, so you have a way to operate it without your phone. Extra handsets can be added to your order, and a wireless keypad is useful for anyone without a fob or a phone to hand. Keep the manual override handle somewhere easy to find, too.

Does a smart garage door work with voice assistants?

Some smart receivers can link to voice assistants or home automation systems, but it varies from one receiver to another. If that matters to you, tell us at the survey and we'll confirm what the receiver for your door supports before you order. Think carefully before allowing voice commands to open the door, for security.
