What should I know about smart roller garage doors in Caerphilly?

Think about whether a Wi-Fi extender or mesh point may be needed if the garage is detached or behind thick walls.
Decide who in the household should have app access, and plan how you will remove access when someone no longer needs it.
Only close the door from the app when you know the opening is clear, and keep testing the safety devices monthly.
Keep your remote fobs as well as the app, because they operate the door directly even when the internet is down.

Rules that apply in Caerphilly

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in Wales some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Smart roller garage doors in Caerphilly: questions

Is the survey in Caerphilly really free?

Yes. For a new door, a replacement or a conversion, the survey is free and there is no obligation to go ahead. We measure the opening, check the lintel, headroom, side room and power, and send a written quote afterwards.

Do you charge more for Caerphilly than other towns in Gwent?

No. Guide prices are the same for Caerphilly as for anywhere else we cover in Gwent. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.

How much do smart roller garage doors cost in Caerphilly?

Our guide price for smart roller garage doors is from £1,290 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Caerphilly as elsewhere we cover.

Can you remove my old garage door in Caerphilly?

Yes. Every door price includes removing and disposing of an old roller or up-and-over door at your Caerphilly address, along with standard fixings and making good to the reveals. If the frame or lintel needs work, we price it at the survey before you agree.

Can several people control the door from their phones?

Usually, yes, though how access is shared depends on the app and receiver your door uses. It's worth keeping a list of who has access, and removing anyone who no longer needs it, in the same way you'd keep track of keys and fobs. Ask about sharing at the survey if it matters to you.

Does a smart garage door work with voice assistants?

Some smart receivers can link to voice assistants or home automation systems, but it varies from one receiver to another. If that matters to you, tell us at the survey and we'll confirm what the receiver for your door supports before you order. Think carefully before allowing voice commands to open the door, for security.
