What should I know about smart roller garage doors in Leamington Spa?

Keep your remote fobs as well as the app, because they operate the door directly even when the internet is down.
Ask which features the smart receiver offers, such as showing whether the door is open, before you order it.
Find out whether there is a socket or fused spur near the box, as a smart receiver needs an electric door with power.
Only close the door from the app when you know the opening is clear, and keep testing the safety devices monthly.

Rules that apply in Leamington Spa

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in England some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Smart roller garage doors in Leamington Spa: questions

How long does it take to fit a roller garage door in Leamington Spa?

Most single domestic roller doors are fitted in a day once the door has been made, including removing the old door. Wider doors, conversions that need building work and jobs where power has to be run can take longer; the quote says what to expect.

How much do smart roller garage doors cost in Leamington Spa?

Our guide price for smart roller garage doors is from £1,290 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Leamington Spa as elsewhere we cover.

Do you charge more for Leamington Spa than other towns in Warwickshire?

No. Guide prices are the same for Leamington Spa as for anywhere else we cover in Warwickshire. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.

Do I need permission for a new roller garage door in Leamington Spa?

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in England, and widening the opening needs building control approval. If you live in a listed building, a conservation area or on an estate with covenants or planning conditions, check before ordering.

Do I still get remote fobs with a smart door?

Yes. A smart door comes with rolling-code remote fobs as well as app control, so you have a way to operate it without your phone. Extra handsets can be added to your order, and a wireless keypad is useful for anyone without a fob or a phone to hand. Keep the manual override handle somewhere easy to find, too.

Does a smart garage door work with voice assistants?

Some smart receivers can link to voice assistants or home automation systems, but it varies from one receiver to another. If that matters to you, tell us at the survey and we'll confirm what the receiver for your door supports before you order. Think carefully before allowing voice commands to open the door, for security.
