What should I know about smart roller garage doors in Willenhall?

Think about whether a Wi-Fi extender or mesh point may be needed if the garage is detached or behind thick walls.
Find out whether there is a socket or fused spur near the box, as a smart receiver needs an electric door with power.
Ask which features the smart receiver offers, such as showing whether the door is open, before you order it.
Check the Wi-Fi signal on your phone at the top of the garage opening, since the receiver needs a reliable connection there.

Rules that apply in Willenhall

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in England some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Smart roller garage doors in Willenhall: questions

Can I message you a photo of my garage in Willenhall?

Yes. Photos of the opening, the inside of the garage above the door and any existing door help us give a more useful guide price for Willenhall. Send them by WhatsApp or mention them in your enquiry, and we will reply in writing.

Do you charge more for Willenhall than other towns in the West Midlands?

No. Guide prices are the same for Willenhall as for anywhere else we cover in the West Midlands. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode, apart from islands and remote areas where any travel cost is shown in advance.

Do you cover Willenhall?

Yes. Willenhall is part of the area we cover in the West Midlands, including WV13, WV12 and WV11. Get a guide price online, then we confirm a survey or visit date in writing. Dates depend on installer and engineer availability.

Do I need permission for a new roller garage door in Willenhall?

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in England, and widening the opening needs building control approval. If you live in a listed building, a conservation area or on an estate with covenants or planning conditions, check before ordering.

Do I still get remote fobs with a smart door?

Yes. A smart door comes with rolling-code remote fobs as well as app control, so you have a way to operate it without your phone. Extra handsets can be added to your order, and a wireless keypad is useful for anyone without a fob or a phone to hand. Keep the manual override handle somewhere easy to find, too.

What happens to a smart garage door if the Wi-Fi goes down?

The app may stop responding until the Wi-Fi or internet connection comes back, but the door itself keeps working. Your remote fobs talk to the door directly, and any keypad or key switch works as normal. The door doesn't rely on the internet to open and close, only to take instructions from the app.
