What should I know about electric roller garage doors in Clwyd?

Make sure there's a clear spot on the wall inside the garage for the control box, away from shelving or anything stacked in the way.
If the garage has no other way in, ask whether an external override or a battery backup unit would make sense for power cuts.
Think about how everyone in the house will open the door, whether by remote fob, wall keypad, key switch or a phone app.
Ask for the Declaration of Conformity and commissioning paperwork at handover, and store it with your other house documents.

Rules that apply in Wales

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in Wales some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Questions about electric roller garage doors in Clwyd

Which towns do you cover in Clwyd?

We cover Clwyd, including Wrexham, Deeside, Colwyn Bay and Rhyl. Every town has its own page with local details, and you can start a guide price for any postcode in Clwyd online.

Can I get a price without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type, or the visit price for a repair. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

Are guide prices the same across Clwyd?

Yes. The guide prices are the same in every town in Clwyd. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode.

Why does my electric door start closing and then go back up?

That usually means a safety device thinks something is in the way. Check nothing is in the opening, wipe the photocell lenses and look for damage to the rubber safety edge on the bottom rail. If it keeps happening, stop using the door and ask for a repair visit, which is priced and agreed before anyone comes out.

Can I add more remotes or a keypad later?

Yes. When you order a new door, you can add extra handsets and a wireless keypad at the prices in your quote. On an existing door, adding or recoding remotes, or changing the receiver, is done on a visit whose price is agreed before we come out. Keep a note of how many handsets you have, so any lost ones can be dealt with.
