What should I know about smart roller garage doors in Cwmbran?

Ask which features the smart receiver offers, such as showing whether the door is open, before you order it.
Only close the door from the app when you know the opening is clear, and keep testing the safety devices monthly.
Decide who in the household should have app access, and plan how you will remove access when someone no longer needs it.
Think about whether a Wi-Fi extender or mesh point may be needed if the garage is detached or behind thick walls.

Rules that apply in Cwmbran

Electrics

An electric door needs a power supply near the roller box. Electrical work must meet BS 7671, and in Wales some domestic electrical work is notifiable under Part P, so it is done by a registered competent person or signed off by building control.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Smart roller garage doors in Cwmbran: questions

What do you check at a survey in NP44?

At a survey in NP44 we measure the width and height of the opening, the headroom above it for the roller box, the side room for the guide rails and the floor level. We also look at the lintel and where power can come from for an electric door.

Can I get a price for Cwmbran without anyone visiting?

Yes. The guide price tool takes four steps and gives a range for your opening and door type. It is a guide, not a quote: the written quote comes after the survey or once the visit price is agreed.

Is the survey in Cwmbran really free?

Yes. For a new door, a replacement or a conversion, the survey is free and there is no obligation to go ahead. We measure the opening, check the lintel, headroom, side room and power, and send a written quote afterwards.

How much do smart roller garage doors cost in Cwmbran?

Our guide price for smart roller garage doors is from £1,290 inc VAT. The figure for your garage depends on the opening size, the door specification and any extras, and is confirmed in a written quote after a free survey. The guide prices are the same in Cwmbran as elsewhere we cover.

Can several people control the door from their phones?

Usually, yes, though how access is shared depends on the app and receiver your door uses. It's worth keeping a list of who has access, and removing anyone who no longer needs it, in the same way you'd keep track of keys and fobs. Ask about sharing at the survey if it matters to you.

Do I still get remote fobs with a smart door?

Yes. A smart door comes with rolling-code remote fobs as well as app control, so you have a way to operate it without your phone. Extra handsets can be added to your order, and a wireless keypad is useful for anyone without a fob or a phone to hand. Keep the manual override handle somewhere easy to find, too.
