What should I know about steel roller garage doors in West Sussex?

Check the lintel above the opening for cracks or sagging, since a heavier steel curtain relies on sound fixings at the top.
Find out whether there's a socket or fused spur near the box position, since every steel door we price is electric.
Ask to see the security certificate if resistance to forced entry matters, because steel on its own doesn't make a door security-rated.
Measure the width of your opening, because our steel price list covers singles up to 2.4 m and doubles of 3.0 to 4.0 m, and other widths are priced on survey.

Rules that apply in England

Planning

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission. Check first if your home is listed (listed building consent covers works that affect its character), sits in a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, or is on an estate where planning conditions or covenants control garage doors.

Powered door safety

Every powered door we fit is commissioned with force testing to BS EN 12453 and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity and UKCA or CE marking, as the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 require.

Questions about steel roller garage doors in West Sussex

Do I need permission for a new roller garage door in West Sussex?

Replacing a garage door is not usually development that needs planning permission in England, and widening the opening needs building control approval. If you live in a listed building, a conservation area or on an estate with covenants or planning conditions, check before ordering.

How do I book a survey in West Sussex?

Start with the guide price tool or the form on this page. We then contact you to arrange a free survey for a new door, replacement or conversion, and confirm the date in writing.

Are guide prices the same across West Sussex?

Yes. The guide prices are the same in every town in West Sussex. The written quote reflects your opening and the door you choose, not your postcode.

Is a steel door the right choice for a row of lock-ups?

It can be, particularly where a stiffer curtain appeals for garages that are opened less often. Every steel door in our price list is electric, though, so each garage needs a power supply near its box. Where lock-ups have no power, manual aluminium doors may be more practical. We can survey and price a whole row together.

Why are steel doors over 4 m wide priced on survey?

Our standard steel price list covers single openings up to 2.4 m and doubles of 3.0 to 4.0 m; other widths are priced on survey. A wider steel door needs the opening, lintel and fixing points checked individually before the right door can be specified, so we price it after the survey rather than from a table. For openings up to about 5.5 m, insulated aluminium doors have a set price band you can see online.
